Bishop John “Jay” W. Harden, age 72, of Greentown, IN passed away on Monday April 18, 2016 at Century Villa Healthcare in Greentown. He was born on May 30, 1943 in Lilbourn, MO to Johnnie and Jewel (Taylor) Harden. On April 17, 1964 he was married and they celebrated 52 years together.
Jay was a 1961 graduate of Windfall High School. He worked for various seed companies in the Windfall area for well over 30 years. Jay was very active in the Windfall community. He had served as Windfall Town Board President, President of the Seed City Festival, and served as Windfall Clerk Treasure.

Jay was ordained in 1980, and was very active in the faith community as well, he had served as District Secretary and District Superintendent for the Assemblies of the Lord Jesus Christ Indiana District. In 2000 Jay founded the Apostolic Christian Church in Tipton where he served as pastor for over 10 years. He presently was a member of the Greater Life Church in Greentown.

Survivors include his wife, a son, his grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and sister-in- laws, a sister and brother-in- law.
Jay was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings; Harold “Dutch“ Harden and Peggy Harden.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM on Saturday April 23, 2016 at the Greater Life Church located at 332 West Payton Street in Greentown, IN. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 PM on Friday April 22 and again from 9 to 10 AM on Saturday morning at the church.
The Reverend’s Paul Mooney and Eric Hall will be officiating. Interment will follow in Windfall’s Brookside Cemetery.
