Mrs. Laura C. Newkirk, wife of DeWitt C. Newkirk, died at her home in Howells last night. She was born at Kiamesha Lake, March fifth, 1855, a daughter of John and Nancy Knapp Gray. She has been a resident of Howells forty years.
Surviving are her husband and sons, John of Matamoras, DeWitt R. of New York City and Grover C. at home; four grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the chapel of Isaac J. Hasbrouck Sunday afternoon at two o'clock with the Rev. D.J. Patterson officiating. Interment will be in the family plot at Howells. Friends may call at the chapel tonight.
