AUTO DRAGS, KILLS S.L. BICYCLIST, 9
A 9-year-old bicyclist was dead on arrival at University Hospital, after being struck and dragged 30 feet by a car about 8:15 p.m. Monday.
Sheriff's Deputy Charles G. Hebden said the victim, Dorothy Meadows, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Meadows, 2895-2870 East, was pedaling her bicycle west on 30th South. Her front wheel struck a dip in the road, causing her to turn onto 27th East, where she was struck by a northbound auto.
The car was driven by Alan Wayne Luckart, 26, 2677 E. 2900 South.
The deputy said the bicycle's front wheel became tangled in the car's front wheel, and the bicycle and its rider were dragged 30 feet.
Then, he said, the car ran over the child.
