Sudden Death
.
News of the death of T. A. MAXWELL, sheriff of Murray County, reached
here Friday night and his death was a shock,
Mr. Maxwell, who had lived many years at Healdton, had
many friends in this section; heart failure, 59 years old, large family;
funeral awaiting arrival of a son in west Texas.

According to the Arkansas Marriages, 1837-1944 record for his parents marriage, the 1850
and 1860 censuses, Thomas Austin Maxwell was born on August 04, 1850 in Yell County,
Arkansas. His parents were Abraham B. Maxwell and Melcina B. Cornelius Maxwell.

According to the Arkansas, County Marriages Index, 1837-1957 record, Thomas Austin
Maxwell married Harriet Jane Marr on January 05, 1871 in Yell County, Arkansas or
possibly in Bluffton, Yell County, Arkansas where both Jane Marr and Thomas Austin
Maxwell resided.

There is no record of Thomas Austin Maxwell’s death other what is written in his obituary
that is posted on your FAG memorial for him. In part at the beginning of the obituary it
reads: “News of the death of T. A. Maxwell, sheriff of Murray County (Oklahoma) .. “ In
the United States Census, 1900 for Township 1 S. Range 3 E. Sulphur Springs Town,
Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory it shows that Thomas Austin Maxwell was a general
merchant living there with his wife, Harriet Jane Marr Maxwell, and their family.
According to the obituary and your FAG memorial, Thomas Austin Maxwell died on February
04, 1910. According to the United States Census, 1910 for Sulphur City, Ward 3, Murray
County, Oklahoma which was enumerated on April 19, 1910, the widow Harriet Jane Marr
Maxwell and her family were living there in February 04, 1910so in my opinion Thomas
Austin Maxwell the sheriff of Murray County, Oklahoma died on February 04, 1910 in
February 04, 1910 in Sulphur City, Oklahoma.
