NEW ULM REVIEW June 18, 1924

In the prime of life Mrs. Franz Niemann was stricken at her home, South Washington Street, Thursday afternoon at 3:30. Death was due to kidney trouble superinduced by heart trouble. She had been confined to her bed for 7 weeks and for some time before that had been ailing.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Emma Schneider, was born April 20, 1873, in New Ulm as the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Schneider, pioneer residents of this community, who died respectively 4 and 3 years ago. She spent her childhood days here, attended the public schools and grew to womanhood in this community. The family first lived in the heart of the city but later moved to the outskirts where they operated a farm.

On the 9th of October, 1895, she was united in marriage to Franz Niemann, who survives her. Six children were born to them, all of whom survive. They are: Frank Niemann of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. S.J. Lawellin and Otto Niemann of New Ulm and Edna, Alfred and Charles who are still at home. She is also survived by two brothers: August and Otto Schneider, both of this city. At the time of her death she was a member of the Junior Pioneers of New Ulm and of the Ladies' Society of the New Ulm Turnverein.

The funeral which was largely attended was held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Turner Hall and the remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery. Mrs. Olson and Miss Elsa Marti, cousins of the deceased, sang and the funeral address was delivered by Capt. Albert Steinhauser. Members of the New Ulm Fire Department of which Mr. Niemann is a member acted as pall-bearers.
