Recipient of Sacrifice Medal (posthumous)

Corporal, a Military Police officer with 2 Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group Headquarters based in Petawawa, Ontario. Aged 23. He was born in Richmond Hill, raised in Wingham and joined the armed forces in 2003. Predeceased by his grandfather Sidney Dinning. Survived by his parents, Lincoln and Laurie Dinning; brother Brendon Dinning; grandparents Eileen Dinning and Jim and Rhelda Stockall; aunts and uncles; and his girlfriend, Tanya Lowerison.

Cpl Dinning was one of four Canadian soldiers killed when their light-armoured G-Wagon vehicle was blown onto its side by a roadside bomb near Gumbad, approximately 75 kilometres north of Kandahar, Afghanistan.

Funeral was held in Wingham, ON on April 29, 2006 with an estimated 2300 people in attendance. Cpl Dinning's remains were cremated and interred during a private family ceremony.

Cpl Dinning is honoured on the Canadian Police & Peace Officers' Memorial in Ottawa.
