This is Kelsey. My granddaughter,Summer, got him from Wal-Mart(he was a "free puppies" type...and her mother wasn't with her.)When Summer got home, she peeked around the door and said:"Mom,he followed me home...can I keep him!!??" (Of course she lived about 7 or 8 miles from town and had gone with friends in a car,so he didn't "follow me home." :) Summer's mom worked for City Hall and we all became quite fond of several of the police officers.
Summer said she wanted to name her puppy after her favorite officer...but at the time..there were THREE favorites: Lloyd,Chad, and Kenneth. Well..I thought about it for awhile and told her to name him KLC(their initials) and call him "Kelsey", (which is a sort of Redneck-Southern version of KLC)...so that's how he got his name.
Kelsey became our mutual dog...even after Summer married, Kelsey stayed on with her Mom,Vicki, and since I live just down the road..he was here a lot.He would come begging for food, even though he took it and buried it most of the time.
Vicki is terrified of storms and always came to my house when it got bad because we had a storm cellar and she lived in a trailer. Kelsey soon learned that if it thundered..head out to Grandma's house. It even got to where he would come and get under my house when Vicki wasn't coming!
Kelsey died Mon. night and it's hard on all of us,but Summer and Vicki are really having a hard time with it.
Anyway..this is a tribute to a very special family friend..not worth much as a hunter, no special talents (except for shaking hands..he couldn't even catch a piece of food tossed to him), but he loved us and we loved him and that's what counts most!!

NOTE: Notice the candy cane between Kelsey's feet..and beside them....he was trying to get the paper off!
