POLLY WHITE RICHARDSON DURHAM

Mrs. Polly Durham was born Polly White to Harriett Redden and Monroe White in Grimes County Texas.
She was a single parent of two children, Mattie Sims born in 1896, and Ernest Sims born in 1898, when she met and married Matthew Richardson in 1900 while living in Grimes County, TX. Matthew and Polly moved to Oklahoma in 1901, and had six more children, Millie 1901, Margret 1902, Hattie 1904, Elijah 1906, Minnie 1909, & Ethel 1911. Later in life, Polly had another son, Julius in 1918 with her second husband Julius Durham, while living in Ennis, TX.
Polly and the children moved to Midland, TX in 1933 after Julius' death. She joined Macedonia Baptist Church in 1934 and remained in faithful service to her church and community until she became ill and passed away in April 1968, at the age of 86.
Polly was preceded in death by four of her children, Millie, Elijah, Mattie, and Ernest. She is survived by one brother, James White of Los Angeles, CA, four daughters, Margret Henderson, Hattie Hibbitt, Minnie Harris, & Ethel Richardson all of California, and one son, Julius Durham of Midland, TX, seventeen grand children, and a host of great grand children, friends and loved ones.
Polly's funeral was held on Thursday, May 2, 1968 at 2:30 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, 201 S. Carver Street in Midland, TX; Reverend H.F. Doyle Officiated. Her Pallbearers were members of Macedonia Baptist Church. Polly is buried in an unmarked grave, at Fairview Cemetery, Midland, TX. Arrangements were made by The Jackson Funeral Home in Midland, TX.
