Tom Pointer was a lieutenant in the 16th Ala Inf CSA. He fought at Fishing Creek, Shiloh, Murfreesboro and all the battles of the Atlanta Campaign. Took over command of I Company, 16th Ala Inf at Battle of Franklin. Captured in Lawrence County, Ala on Dec 30, 1864 and sent to Fort Delaware. Paroled on taking the oath to the US on June 17, 1865.
