William joined the United States Army in 1909. He was a private with the 8th U.S. Calvary for 2 years and 4 months. He arrived in California in 1911.
He was incarcerated at Folsom Prison, Leavenworth, the Nevada State Prison, and McNeil Island Corrections Center for nearly all of his adult life.
He was married for a short time, but the marriage ended sometime before 1933. They did not have any children.
William died in early 1951 at the age of 58 years, 4 months and 27 days. He was buried in California, but the name of the specific cemetery is unknown at this time.
