Former Bishop of the Diocese of Marsi, Monsignor Marino Russo was born in Margherita di Savoia, previously Saline di Barletta, the son of pharmacist, and was ordained priest on December 22, 1866. Parish priest of the Chiesa Madre of San Ferdinando di Puglia between 1871 and 1895, on November 29 of the latter, Pope Leo XIII elected him Bishop of Marsi, receiving his episcopal consecration on December 1 from Cardinal Lucido Maria Parocchi. Stricken by an apoplexy, he retired from office in May 1903, passing away at San Ferdinando di Puglia a few weeks later on August 15 at 60 years of age.
