Funeral services for Dr. C. J. Hufty, 77, a veterinarian at Burlington for 50 years, were held Sunday afternoon at the Carter Funeral Home in Flora. The Reverend John Buckley officiated and interment was in the IOOF Cemetery at Delphi.

Dr. Hufty died at 11:50 a.m. Friday in Home Hospital at Lafayette after being admitted as a patient Thursday night. He had been ill one year and in serious condition for five weeks.

He was born in Carroll County July 6, 1886, the son of Jasper and Amanda Ginn Hufty. His marriage was to Aurora Taylor.

He attended Purdue University one year and graduated from McKillips Veterinarian School at Chicago in 1911. He had been practicing in the Burlington area for 50 years and for two years prior to that in Logansport. He was a member of K of P Lodge, Burlington; Odd Fellows at Delphi for 50 years; Veterinarian Association of America and Indiana Veterinarian Association.

Surviving with the widow are one son William, of Kokomo; five daughters, Mrs. Harold Snyder, of Indianapolis, Mrs. James Wertz of Anderson, Mrs. Ralph Young, of Lafayette, Mrs. Lowell Lyford, of Battle Ground, Washington, and Mrs. Joe Tarkington, of route 1, Kokomo; one brother, Wilford, of Delphi; and two sisters, Mrs. Larry Gruber, of Delphi and Mrs. Lee Henderson, of Seymour; and sixteen grandchildren.

Three sisters and a brother preceded him in death.
