Mrs. Mary E. Hufty Young, 58, of Lafayette, died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 1977, at her home following a lingering illness. Born May 14, 1919, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Dr. C.J. and Aurora Taylor Hufty. She was married in 1942 to Tom Young, who survives. She was a graduate of Burlington High and Indiana Business College at Kokomo. Mrs. Young and her husband
owned and operated a hardware store for 20 years before selling the business last January.
She was a member of the Lafayette Country Club. Surviving with the husband are two sons, Thomas B. Young of Clearwater, Fla., and Patrick H. Young of Lafayette; one brother, William Hufty of Burlington; four sisters, Mrs. Maxine Snider of Indianapolis, Mrs. Jane Wertz of Anderson, Mrs. Joan Tarkington of Rt. 1, Kokomo and Mrs. Betty Lyford of Battle
Ground, Wash., who died Sept. 29.1977, and three grandchildren.
Services were Friday at the Central Presbyterian Church, Lafayette, where she was a member and burial was in Rest Haven Memorial Park.
