Jean "Jane" Graves was born on 16 Jul 1700 in Essex County, Virginia the daughter of Johanna "Hannah" F. (Davis) and John Graves.

Jean "Jane" Graves married about 1728 in Essex County, Virginia to John D. Coffey, son of Edward Coffey and to this union was born 7 sons and 2 daughters- James Edwin Coffey, William Coffey, John D. Coffey Jr., Edmond Edward Stewart Coffey, Winifred (Coffey) Moran, Thomas B. Coffey Sr, Reuben Coffey, Benjamin Franklin Coffey and Elizabeth (Coffey) Fields.

After her husband John Coffey died testate about February to March 1775 in Albemarle County, Virginia, the widow. Jean moved to Wilkes County, North Carolina to live with their children where she died at home about 1779.
