Deaconess Virginia B. Allen was called to eternal and rest on Wednesday, May 25, 2016. She entered into the Gates of Heaven and her home is now the mansion Christ has prepared for her. Her life’s journey began on March 28, 1942, the daughter of Ada B. Byrd and the late Leon F. Byrd, in King & Queen County, Virginia.
Deaconess Allen was a devoted member of New Zion Baptist Church. She faithfully served her church as a Deaconess, a member of the Senior Choir, the Voices of Zion and the Missionaries.
She leaves to treasure her blessed memories, her husband, Edward H. Allen, Sr.; her son, Edward H. Allen, Jr. (Sandra); her mother, Ada B. Byrd; her sisters, Rose Washington (William) and Rosette Byrd Turner; her brother, William Byrd (Karen); her devoted grandson, Marcus Walker (Renee'); her seven other grandchildren; her great-grandchildren; other loving relatives and many caring friends.
A funeral service, celebrating the life she lived, will be held 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 30, 2016, in New Zion Baptist Church, 3991 Longhill Road, with Dr. Robert A. Whitehead officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family and friends will assemble at 202 Jolly Pond Road by 10:00 a.m. on Monday. Deaconess Allen may be viewed in the funeral home from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday.
