Isabella Mayo Boone was the daughter of Cuffie Mayo and his first wife, Glathy Hawkins. She was the first of their daughters to marry. In 1850, Willis Boone and Isabella married. He was a ditcher and farmer. She was a skilled knitter and local laundress. Family traditions and news articles stated that they had seventeen to twenty-one children. Only sixteen, including a grandchild they raised are on record by name. It is likely that some of the children died in infancy. After the Civil War, they owned a farm of over seven acres. (Notes: I estimated her birth year on official records. The burial is in the original location for Old Synama Grove Baptist Church.)
