In 1850, Willis Boone and Isabella Mayo married. He was a ditcher and farmer. She was a skilled knitter and local laundress. Family traditions and news articles stated that they had seventeen to twenty-one children. Only sixteen, including a grandchild they raised are on record by name. It is likely that some of the children died in infancy. After the Civil War, they owned a farm of over seven acres. (Notes: I estimated her birth year on official records. The burial is in the original location for Old Synama Grove Baptist Church.)
