Rev James Harris Lawson son of Vincent Garner & Susan Pearle Mackey Lawson was born in Indian Territory - he was the oldest of eleven children and enjoyed being the only son with seven sisters until finally another son was born.
He married Maggie May Conrad in 1912 and she passed away four months later - he then married Josephine James Nov 2, 1913 and from this union eight children were born.
He was ordained in Jul 1936 with the Assembly of God Church and held several revivals in and around the Sunrise and Depew area before moving to TX then to Ada where he built a brush arbor between Ada and Konowa so they could have a place to worship until they could build a church where he was pastor. He also worked as an oilwell pumper and was transferred to Shawnee, OK thus having to resign as the pastor of the Midway Assembly of God but soon found a church north of Shawnee that needed a pastor and he was there at the Centerview Assembly of God for several years, then was pastor of Jarvis Assembly of God near Seminole. He was transferred to Maysville, OK but was pastor at Maud Assembly of God Church driving from Maysville to Maud for the services. He soon retired from the Oil Company he worked for and moved to Maud, OK where he could devote full time to being pastor and was there until he passed away.
He was a good man - one of a kind.
