Mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday May 20th at 10:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in St. Joseph for Richard J. Schloemer, age 82, of St. Joseph, who died on Thursday at the Albany Hospital. Rev. Greg Miller OSB will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday (Today) between 4:00-9:00 PM at the Daniel Funeral Home in St. Joseph. Parish Prayers will be at 5:00 PM on Friday.
Richard was born on September 13, 1923 in St. Joseph, MN to Frank and Dorothy (Schwab) Schloemer. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Richard married Isabel T. Sauer-Schloemer on May 5, 1973 in St. Joseph. He was self employed in farming and later worked as a custodian at the College of St. Benedict. Richard retired on June 29, 1990. He was a member of the VFW Post 5773 and St. Joseph’s Parish.
Richard is survived by his stepchildren Sandy Notch (Larry) Avon, Diane Mulvany (Tom) Golden, CO, Michael Schloemer, Art Schloemer (Barb), Kevin Schloemer (Pam Schwartz), all of St. Joseph; brothers and sisters Marie Prom, Roseville, Louise Kozak, St. Cloud, Millie Kramer, Blaine, Adeline Gillitzer, St. Joseph, Frank, Hill City.
He was preceded in death by his wife on May 9, 1994, brothers Albert and Herman.
