Military Funeral services for Arthur Samuel Liddell will be held Saturday at the First Apostolic Church, with Rev. J.C. Dockens officiating. Service men home on leave will attend. Burial will take place at Herrin City Cemetery. The body is now at the family residence at 1112 South 11th Street.
Arthur Samuel Liddell, 25, discharged Navy man, died at 11 a.m. after a long illness. Liddell, who was stationed at Pearl Harbor during the bombing and had seen service in the South Pacific, was suffering from shell shock. He served five years in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by five brothers, Pvt. Joseph of the U.S. Army, now a Prisoner of War being held in Germany. Pvt. Clarence with the U.S. Marines in the South Pacific, Melvin and James of Herrin and Paul of Tampa, FL and two sisters, Violet Ruth Liddell at home and Mrs James (Marguerite) Decker of North Carolina.
Liddell, who was stationed in Pearl Harbor during the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941 and had seen service in the South Pacific. He served five years in the U.S. Navy.
