Mrs. Joseph McClellan
The death of this estimable lady occurred at her home in Scipio two, on Monday March 27th, and her funeral took place at Door Village last Wednesday, Rev Geo. M Boyd, Presiding Elder in the Methodist church, preaching the funeral sermon. It is but a few months since Mr. & Mrs McClellan celebrated the 40th anniversary of their wedding, they being married in 1835, Hon. Chas W. Cathcart, who was then a Justice of the peace, performing the marriage ceremony. Mrs McClellan was 67 years of age at the time of her death, and during her 43 years of her life, she was a faithful member of the Methodist Episcopal church, an a devoted christian. She had suffered from ill health during many months, being afflicted with a dropsical affection. She was a noble and true christian woman, and she died as she had lived in the triumphs of heavenly faith. Many hearts will turn in sympathy to her bereaved family & friends.
