Frederick S. Medbourn, 88, Greentown and formerly of Delphi, died 1:15 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, at Century Villa Healthcare, Greentown. Mr. Medbourn lived in Delphi for 43 years before moving to Greentown in 2001. He was born Jan. 15, 1918, in Culver to Wilford E. and Lula D. Warren Medbourn. He married Virgie Inez Smith Medbourn on April 17, 1939, in Booneville, Miss. She preceded him in death on Jan. 21, 2003.
Fred retired from Delphi Community Schools after 16 years as a custodian. He farmed most of his life and was also a grain processor for Maggart Farms.
He served as deacon at Zion Apostolic Church in Frankfort for many years. He also attended First Assembly of God in Delphi. He loved his family and worked hard to provide for them, and often opened his home to help others. Fred enjoyed doing automotive repair as well.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virgie Inez Medbourn; son, Eldon Medbourn; two daughters, Connie Eckart and Helen Sue Henry; two brothers and two sisters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, 121 N. Union St., Delphi, with his grandson, Pastor Matthew Eckart, officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens, Delphi. Calling will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
