Mr. Squyres, 81, of Melder, entered eternal rest on Sunday, October 29, 2006 in Melder. He was born on May 18, 1925 to the union of William and Nonie Squyres in Hicksbaugh, Texas. Mr. Squyres was a Baptist by faith, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Mr. Squyres was a retired AC repairman, electrician, and contractor of all trades and, a fifty-year Mason with the Fellowship Lodge in Hineston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Nonie Squyres; two brothers, Marshall "Bud" Squyres and James "Sam" Squyres; three sisters, Mary Lynn Adkins, Viola Barge and Leola Bollenbacher; one granddaughter, Amy Lea Watson and one great-grandson, Michael Bradley Watson.
He leaves behind his loving family to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 31 years, Helen Squyres of Melder; four sons, Gary Squyres and Sue of Woodlands, Texas, Roger Squyres and Nelda of Brandon, Mississippi, Steve Squyres and Cheryl of Melder and Mickey Christy and Kellie of Hineston; three daughters, Kathy Meylian and Gordon of Hineston, Sally Beall and Bobby of Pineville and Lisa Elliott and Bruce of Gig Harbor, Washington; two sisters, Lila Rae Melder and Ora Lee Lewis both of Melder; twenty grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers honored to serve will be his grandsons, David Squyres, Don Squyres, Joseph Squyres, Eric Squyres, Kris Beall and Matthew Christy. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons Seth Squyres and Blake Elliott and great-grandson, Tyler Gillespie.
