Bertha moved her family from Alexandria, LA to Houston, TX in 1935, when Rose was five yrs. old, and then to Los Angeles, CA in 1940 when Rose was 11. Rose grew into adulthood in Los Angeles, and met and married Wilbert Leroy Daniel in 1946 when she was 16 yrs. old. From this union came three children before divorcing in 1951. In 1953, Rose met and married Mitchell Alexander, in Los Angeles, CA, and from this union came three more children.
Rose died at 1:00 am on Monday, November 9, 1965, from injuries she received when the car she and her family were riding in was involved in a collision on the Nimitz Freeway in Oakland, CA Sunday night. The accident occurred when the car, driven by her husband, Mitchell Alexander, Jr., skidded on wet pavement and crashed into another car. While her family suffered only minor injuries, Rose sustained fatal injuries which led to her death.

Besides her husband Mitchell, she is survived by six children: Mrs. Shirley Faye Compton, Mr. Wilbert Leroy Daniel, Jr., and Miss Sandra Marie Daniel all of Los Angeles; the Misses Michelle Rena Alexander, Alexis Rose Alexander, and Mr. Mitchell Alexander, III all of Richmond, CA. Rose is also survived by her father, Raymond Charles Brown of Chicago, IL, her mother, Mrs. Bertha Mary Montague of Los Angeles, one brother, Jimmie Lee Pugh, of Los Angeles, CA, two grand children, and a host of loving relatives and friends.
Arrangements for Rose's final rites and Northern California family viewing were made by the Rose Manor Chapel and Funeral Home on Nevin Avenue in Richmond, CA, before her larger family funeral was held on November 14, 1965, in Los Angeles, CA at the Angelus Funeral Home. Rose was cremated and her remains are in the Mausoleum at Evergreen Cemetery 204 North Evergreen Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90033-3654.
