RAYMOND CHARLES BROWN
03/28/1905 – 07/23/1979
Raymond "Ray Ray" Charles Brown was born March 28, 1905, to Fannie Frances Babino and Charles P. Brown, in New Iberia, LA. The family later moved to Patterson, LA, then to Lake Charles, LA by 1912. Raymond lived most of his life in Lake Charles, LA. He was a WWII Veteran-3 year service, and lived for a short while in Chicago, IL with mother Fannie, two brothers John & Clemont, and a few other family members. Raymond and his brothers were raised in the Catholic faith by their mother Fannie. Upon his return to Lake Charles, LA after living in Chicago, he followed his mother's family tradition and became a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Raymond never married, but met and fell in love with Bertha Mary Taylor from Lecompte, LA in 1927. They had one child, Rose Marie Brown born in 1929.
Although Raymond never married, and Bertha moved away from Louisiana to Texas then California, they remained close, and Raymond remained a loving and supportive father and grandfather to Rose and her family until the time of Rose's death in 1965.

At the time of Raymond's death due to Prostate Cancer in 1979, he was living at the Rosewood Nursing Home 1022 Lawrence St. Lake Charles, LA. Raymond was preceded in death by both parents and his beloved daughter Rose. He's survived by two brothers John E. Brown born 1910, and Clemont J. Brown born 1917, both of Lake Charles, LA, six grandchildren from Rose - Shirley F. Robinson of Pomona, CA, Wilbert Leroy Daniel of Los Angeles, CA, Sandra M. Wilson of Los Angeles, CA, Michelle Alexander of Oakland, CA, Mitchell Alexander III of Oakland, CA, and Alexis R. Grambling of Paramount, CA, 10 great grand children, and a host of friends and loved ones.

Raymond's funeral service was held on Monday, July 30, 1979, 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lake Charles, LA. His funeral was officiated by
Reverend Louis Penault, C.S. Raymond is buried in a concrete vault in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lake Charles, LA. His arrangements were made by Combre Funeral Home, Lake Charles, LA.
