Jonathan Archer the 3d was the son of Jonathan and Bethiah (Veary) Archer. He is described as a barber or hair dresser, per newspaper articles. He also settled other’s estates, including his son's, Jonathan IV, in 1826, who he lost to consumption.

Jonathan Archer, 3d, and Rachel Woodman, have an intention to marry in Salem on 10 Nov 1781

His wife, Rachel, died on Sunday, 6 Jul 1834, age 76 (Salem Gazette). Her obit refers to him as "Deacon Archer".

This individual is named as a veteran of the American Revolution in a large book which lists 119 known Salem, MA veterans from various wars, who are buried in the Howard Street Cemetery.  The book appears to have been compiled in the early 20th century.  It is held by a private entity.  They have asked me not to name them to avoid being overwhelmed with distracting requests to examine the book.

Also, see Fold.com which references pension No. S. 20,692.
