Mrs. Mary E (Summers) Schermerhorn, known to all as Grandmother Schermerhorn, died at the residence of her son in law, Gerry Van Dolsen (and Catherine Cordalia "Dalia" Schermerhorn-Van Dolsen) in this city, last Friday morning. She was 79 years of age, and her illness was of brief duration. Her funeral occured at the M.E. Church, Saturday afternoon and was largely attended, Rev. Swadener preaching the discourse. Grandmother Schermerhorn was greatly respected, and many warm friends hear with sorrow of her death. She was a good Christian woman, and a memeber of the Methodist Church.
