Jeannette “Jenny” Horton DeWitt, 70, of Darien died Saturday, June 11, 2016 in the Golden Isles Hospice House after an extended illness. The Baxley native and former resident of Darien was a former clerk at Circle K Convenient Store in Darien and a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and collecting lighthouses. She was predeceased by her parents, Ivey and Ruth Horton; a sister, Annie Ruth Horton; 4 brothers, J.C., Jack, Dean and Carlton Horton; a great grandson, Ezekiel Jacob Hurley.
Survivors are her former husband and father of her children, Rodger DeWitt of Darien; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte (Bruce) McCormick of Anchorage, Alaska, Anne (Dan) Bisdorf of Folkston; son, Tommy DeWitt of Darien; several grandchildren, Jennifer and John Tilton, Jessica and Lili Hurley, David and Lucy Corbitt, William and Hannah Rose, Ulysecia and Darrell Hickman, Christina Rose, Casey DeWitt, Skyler Miller, Ashley Miller, Dalton Miller, Rahmad Miller and Andrew Rose; several great grandchildren, David Tilton, April Corbitt, Wesley Bennett, J.J. Blanton, Axl Rose, Marie Hickman, Wayne Corbitt and Nevah Hurley; sisters, Betty Bullard of Nahunta and Frances Durrence of Spanish Fork, Utah; brother and sister-in-law, William (Yvonne) Horton of Savannah; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 14, 2016, at Mt. Vernon Church Cemetery in Baxley with Rev. Larry Strickland officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 12:00 prior to the service at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home, 860 Hwy. 301 South, Jesup, GA 31546.
