Nahunta – Betty Jean Horton Bullard, 89, of Nahunta passed way Monday evening (May 11, 2020) at her granddaughter’s residence in Jesup after an extended illness.

Born in Baxley, GA her parents were Rufus Ivey Horton and Ruth Mae McCall Horton. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Paul Bullard; a son, Rufus Travis Bullard; 4 brothers, J.C. Horton, Carroll Jack Horton, Carlton Lamar Horton, and Sidney Dean Horton; and 2 sisters, Flora Iva Jeannett Dewitt and Annie Ruth Horton.

Betty was a homemaker and a member of Coastal Baptist Church in Brunswick. She loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include her 5 sons and daughters-in-law, Ronnie Eugene Bullard of Jacksonville, FL, Randall “Randy” Craig Bullard (Sharon) of Jekyll Island, Ivey Lavance Bullard of Nahunta, Kevin Glynn Bullard of Brunswick and James Timothy Bullard (Annette) of Nahunta; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and one on the way; a brother and sister-in-law, William “Bill” Earl Horton (Eyvonne) of Savannah; a sister, Ester Frances Durrence of Spanish Forks, Utah; and also several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Due to the COVID-19, the family will be having a private graveside service Friday (May 15, 2020) at Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick.

Pallbearers will be Randy Bullard, Craig Bullard, John Paul Bullard, Kevin Bullard, II, Paul Bullard and Manos Farmer.

The family would like to thank Hospice of South Georgia for the care they gave to Mrs. Betty.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
