Daniel Sickles, 84, who had spent all of his mature years as a farmer in the county and removed to Manchester eight years ago, died at the Memorial hospital yesterday, May 7, 1952, following a stroke sustained last Friday evening. Services will be held at the Shelly funeral home tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, the Rev. J. F. Hutchinson officiating, with burial in Oakland cemetery.
A son of Mr. and Mrs. John Sickels, natives of Pennsylvania. Mr. Sickels was born on Jan. 7, 1868, and was married to Emma Welsh, who survives him together with five sons-- Ray of Cedar Rapids and Earl, Ora, Milo and Wilson Sickels, all of this city. He also leaves 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, a brother, Bert Sickels, of Kalispell, Montana, and two sisters, Mrs. Kate Harris of Waterloo and another whose home is in Montana. He was a member of the Methodist church.
