Mr. Jayne served his county in the US Army after WW2 and received the WW2 Victory Medal and the Army Occupation Medal, Japan. While in the service, he was trained to be an auto mechanic, a trade that served him well.
Dale used the knowledge he gained to provide for his family working at the state garage and retired in1989, after 22 years with CMS.
He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle and bridge and bowling. He loved traveling to Las Vegas.
He will be greatly missed by his son William (Becky) Jayne of Divernon; sister, Janice (Ed) St. Gemme of Westcliffe, Colorado; brother, Kenneth Jayne (significant other Marilyn Pereira) of Andover, Massachusetts; and sister-in-law, Merilyn Jayne of Decatur; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Inter-Veteran’s Burial Detail of Sangamon County will conduct military honors at Staab Polk Memorial Home at 2pm, Sunday, July 3.
His family will greet friends after honors, until the time of the funeral ceremony at 3pm, Sunday, July 3, 2016, at Staab Polk Memorial Home, 8855 State Route 4, Chatham, with
Pastor Lyle Artman as officiant. Cremation rites will be accorded by Cremation Services of Central Illinois, in Chatham after services. He will be laid to rest in Auburn Cemetery at 10am, Tuesday, July 5.
