It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of our beloved Father (in-law), Grand Father (in-law), and Great Grand Father; Steve Carruthers. Steve passed away Tuesday morning, November 3, just 6 days after his 88th birthday. Steve was born on Oct. 28, 1927 to H.V. and Mary Carruthers in Campbell Hill. He married Iris Schomer on her birthday, August 26, 1951 in Beecher.
Steve is survived by his wife, Iris of 65 yrs; son, Wendell (Marie) of Bourbonnais, grandson Ryan (Lisa) of Bourbonnais, and great grandchildren, Kenny Carruthers and Bailey Carruthers of Bourbonnais; sister, Mary Ruth of Kenshalo, KS, brother, Harry (Helen) Carruthers, ID, sister-in-law, Peg Carruthers, ID, sisters-in-law, Yvonne Neimeyer (Don), IN, Sharon (Lyle) Hartman, Kankakee. Also nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
Steve served his country in the U.S. Army serving in Occupied Japan.
He was retired from Dixie Lumber Company in Momence. He was a 65 year member of the First United Methodist of Momence and a member of Amvets Post 107.
Steve loved to do woodworking and loved to share his completed projects with lucky recipients. He was also a ready taste-tester for his wife's baking and cooking.
Steve had a witty personality, loved people, loved his western stories, desserts and most of all loved his family.
Visitation was Monday, November 9, 2015 at the First United Methodist Church in Momence.
