Leonard James Moore, 77, of 531 River Road, Hanover, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scottsburg.

He was born June 27, 1929, in Frankfort, Ky., the son of Earl and Mabel Lacompt Moore. He retired in 1974 as a printer operator at American Can in Austin, after 29 years of service. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion; the Steelworkers Union, AFL-CIO; and the Lexington Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy "Lucy" Moore, whom he married Oct. 16, 1954; one daughter, Cynthia Cloud of Madison; four sons, James Moore of Columbus, Michael Moore and Leonard E. Moore, both of Hanover, and Nickey Moore of Scottsburg; three sisters, Barbara Farley of New Albany, Nancy Wilkerson of Jeffersonville and Beatrice Rayner of Henryville; two brothers, Robert Moore of Clarksville and Marvin Moore of Henryville; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Earl Moore, Charles Ray Moore and Wilbur Moore; one sister, Emma Vattroff; and one granddaughter.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Vail-Holt Funeral Home Hanover Chapel. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery.
