Funeral services for Mrs. Odessa Ables, 79, of Cookeville, will be held at 1 pm Saturday July 20 at Trinity Baptist Church with Rev. Earl Dirkson, officiating. Interment will follow in the Lyles Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper Huddleston and Horner Funeral Home and again Saturday from 12 noon until service time at the church.
Mrs. Ables died Sunday morning, July 14, 2013 In NHC of Cookeville.
She was born March 29, 1934 in Putnam County to the late Wiley and Collie Estel Hart Hancock.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles William Bell; daughter, Patsy Bell; three brothers, Hugh, Walter, and Jim Hancock; and sister, Rosetta Beard.
Mrs. Ables was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Cookeville.
She was retired from Fleetguard with 35 years of service where she received numerous awards and certificates for her outstanding and dedicated service.
She is survived by her husband James Ables (whom she married June 28, 2003 in Wilson County, TN); son, Charles Timothy Bell of Cookeville; five daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda Myers of Greensboro, NC, Debra and John Latocha of Franklin, TN, Connie and Edward Carter of La Vergne, TN, Pamela and Imad Hijadzi of Waldorf, MD, and Terri Bell of Cookeville; two brothers, Wiley Hancock of Sparta and Charles Hancock of Detroit, MI, four sisters, Flora Rucker of Nashville, Nell Hart and Stella Caly, both of Detroit, MI, and Lela Clemmons of Lebanon, TN; eleven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
