Genevieve Weir, 91, of Pittsburgh, PA passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2016 of natural causes. She was born on August 18, 1924 to Henry Jason and Maud Elsie Haws in Boulder, UT.
Genevieve grew up in Boulder and attended college at Brigham Young University. She moved to California where she met Bill Weir. Bill and Genevieve married in 1949 in Las Vegas and moved to Bellevue in the city of Pittsburgh, PA. Daughter, Pam, joined the couple in 1951. Genevieve worked at Sears and Roebuck Co. for many years until retiring in 1984.
Genevieve was an avid hand quilter but would never sell a quilt. Her quilts will continue to be highly cherished by those lucky enough to receive one as a gift. She was a highly respected member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, North Hills where she was a friend and surrogate grandmother to many. She enjoyed making trips to the temple with her fellow church sisters and continued to do so, even into this year.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Maxwell, Dormont; grandchildren: Nicole (Andrew) Charlton-Nauroth, Ewing, NJ; Scott (Jill) Charlton, Dormont; and Adria Maxwell, Dormont; three great-grandchildren: Hannah, Ila and Haylee Charlton; brother, Jim (Allene) Haws, Torrey, UT; also many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband, and siblings: Leland (Golda) Haws, Otto (Idona) Haws, Neta (Heber) Poulson, Ila (Jess) Winn, Fay (Neal) Jepsen, and Adria Haws.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in Boulder Ward Chapel where friends may call prior to services from 11:30-12:30. Interment will be in the Boulder Cemetery.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be sent to the family. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.
