After moving to Atlanta, Joanne became a member of Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church, where she was a charter member of the Chancel Choir and Red Hat Society "Sassy Ladies." She was also past President of the Joy Club and member of the United Methodist Women's Club.
Joanne was an author of a children's book, "Midnight with Mimi," based on an actual, exciting night spent with one of her grandchildren.
Joanne was survived by her five children,by her grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Joanne was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Addison.
A funeral service was held at Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church. Burial took place. at The Head of Tennessee Baptist Church. Services provided by A.S. Turner & Sons Funeral Home.
