Ella French, 89, 6120 Morningside Ave., died Friday, April 10, 1981, at a local nursing home following a lengthy illness.

Services were at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles Q. Wallace officiated. Burial was in the Kingsley cemetery, under the direction of W. Harry Christy Funeral Home, 1801 Morningside Ave. There was a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

The former Martha Ella Gist was born June 5, 1891, in Hawesvillc, Ky. She married John N. French May 20, 1913. They moved to Iowa in 1916, settling in the Kingsley area. They farmed until retiring in 1945 and moving to Sioux City. Mr. French died in 1947.

Mrs. French was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, William of Denver, Colo., and Wyndham of Moville, Iowa; six daughters, Emma Lee Bolton of Sioux City, Mrs. Randall (Mary) Reinholdt of Lafayette, Colo., Mrs. Harry (Frances) Juelfs of Merrill, Iowa, Mrs. Don (Darlene) Berkenpas of LeMars, Iowa,'Mrs. Harold (Maxine) McCarty oft Mesa, Ariz., and Mrs. Don (Marcella) Kranz of Anthon, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Henry (Emma) May of LeMars, and Mrs. Marcus (Mctta) Kehrberg of Appleton, Minn.; two brothers, Sam Gist of Pipestone, Minn, and Roscoe Gist of Phoenix, Ariz.; 23 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
