PROIETTI, MATTHEW, 80, of Riviera Beach, FL, formerly of Woonsocket, died Sept. 8, 2007 from critical injuries sustained in an accident on Aug. 10, 2007. He was the beloved husband of 24 years to Fern Heroux and predeceased by Gertrude Reilly.

Born May 16, 1927 in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Andrea and Michalina (Iannoli) Proietti. Mr. Proietti was a city resident until moving to Florida over 25 years ago.

A US Navy Veteran, Matthew was a plank owner on the USS Randolph in the radar division during WWII.

He retired as a Detective Sergeant from the Woonsocket Police Department. Graduated from RIJC, became a registered nurse and worked at Landmark Medical Center, formerly the Woonsocket Hospital, for 17 years before moving to Florida. After working a short time at Palm Beach Gardens Hospital, he went to work for the US Postal Service from which he retired.

Matthew loved to travel, spend time in the pool, do favors for everyone at his complex, but most of all he loved his 'sweetheart'.

Besides his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory a son, Michael; a daughter, Barbara d'Agnillo; a stepdaughter, Diane Morin; a stepson, Donald Heroux; a brother, Vincent Proietti, and a sister, Virginia Notarangelo, both of Woonsocket; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

His funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2007 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, Green St., Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Disabled American Veterans, c/o VA Medical Center, 7305 N.
