Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was enrolled in the 23rd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry on August 26, 1862, and was mustered in as a Private in Company D on September 13, 1862. He served through the December 1862 Fredericksburg Campaign, then was discharged due to disability at the Regimental Hospital a White Oak Church, Virginia, on March 22, 1863. He died nine days after his discharge.
