Rev. Abraham Rothrock was the second of ten known children of Joseph Rothrock (1776-1848) and his first wife, Nancy (went by Anna) (last name unknown) (1772-1822), who married c1793 in presumably Pennsylvania. After Anna died, Joseph remarried to the widow Barbara Palmer Sell (1777-1867), but had no known additional children.

Abraham first married to Hannah (last name unknown) (1802-1825) in presumably Pennsylvania. It is not believed they had any children together. After Hannah died, Abraham remarried to Mary (went by Polly) Beshoar/Bashore (1810-1893) in c1827 in presumably Pennsylvania. Abraham and Polly were the parents of ten known children, namely:

1. Ephraim B. Rothrock (1828-1848)
2. Hannah Rothrock (1831-1833)
3. Michael Rothrock (1833-1911)
4. Joseph B. Rothrock (1836-c1910/1920)
5. Hiram Rothrock (1840-1901)
6. Sarah Rothrock (c1840-p1850)
7. Abraham Rothrock (c1843-c1876/1880)
8. Mary Ann Rothrock Firestone Minnix (1846-1924)
9. Daniel Isaac Rothrock (c1849-p1870)
10. Elizabeth A. Rothrock Soxman (1851-1924)

Abraham was a farmer and became a Minister in the Church of the Brethren, succeeding his father in the ministry and bishopric in Mifflin County. In 1850 the family (parents and children: Michael, Joseph, Hiram, Sarah, Abraham, Mary and Isaac) was living at Derry Township, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania. The family moved to Kansas, arriving on March 10, 1858 and settled just south of Lawrence, in a Brethren community. He had the distinction of being the first presiding elder of the Brethren Church in the State of Kansas. I can't find the family on the 1860 census. In 1863 Abraham was shot three times at his home and left for dead by the Quantrill gang of desperadoes from Missouri, who also set fire to his house and barn. He recovered somewhat and lived until 1870, when he died of his wounds. In 1865 Abraham (listed as a Minister) and wife Mary, and children: Mary, Isaac, Elizabeth and Hiram (listed as a Soldier) were living at Willow Springs Township, Douglas County, Kansas. In 1870 the widow Mary was living with son Isaac at Willow Springs Township, Douglas County, Kansas. In 1880 the widow Mary was living with her married daughter Elizabeth Rothrock Soxman at Marion, Douglas County, Kansas.

Links to Abraham's parents, both of his two known wives, six of his ten known children and four of his nine known siblings are included below.
