Waynesboro – Mrs. Bobbye Broome Chandler, 63, entered into rest on Saturday July 16, 2016 at University Hospital in Augusta. She was born in Augusta on October 13, 1952 to the late William Thomas and Leila Mae Broome.

Bobbye was retired from Southern Company after 32 years of service at Plant Vogtle where she worked as an Administrative Assistant. After retirement she enjoyed cooking, visiting various restaurants, and watching the Food Network. She also enjoyed listening to music especially from the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s. Bobbye was a mother figure to many young adults in the surrounding area.

She is survived by her sons; Jeffrey Chandler, Jr., Joseph Chandler II (Felicia), and Charles “Chuckie” Cheeks all of Waynesboro; a daughter Connie Hawes (David) of Perkins; a brother Tommy Broome of Hephzibah; five grandchildren, Chandler Cheeks, William Hawes, Leila Hawes, Katie Hawes, and Bella Chandler.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 5:00pm at Piney Grove Baptist Church, 5060 Mike Padgett Hwy, Augusta, Ga. with the Rev. Steve Sirmons officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Remembrances may be made in her memory to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at jdrf.org.
