Annettie was the daughter of Isaac Thomas & Margaret Yerian. She was the granddaughter of William Thomas, Sr., who founded the village of Jacksonville ("Jacktown").
Annettie married Charles A. McCoy on 17 Mar 1846. This date is from family records. We believe they married in Adams Co., OH. The courthouse burned in 1910 and there is no longer a record.
Charles & Annettie had six children, four of whom died in infancy: infant son; Sarah Elizabeth (Thomas); John R.; Isaac T.; Margaret; & Charles Franklin.
My grandfather, Judson Earl Sprinkle, spoke of his great grandmother Annettie McCoy as being a very strong, respected force within the family.
Grace Smalley Brown, another great grandchild, wrote to me: "Grandma McCoy's hair was white as snow and she wore it in a small knot on the back of her head. She wore a black lace hood all the time and wore long black dresses with fitted blouses, fancy buttons and sometimes a lace collar of white. She was very tiny. Grandma McCoy and Grandpa lived down on Brush Creek farm until she fell and broke her hip. Then she and Grandpa moved in with Grandma and Grandpa Thomas. She fell when I was just a few days old (that would have been in April 1905). She sat in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. She was very neat and clean. My dad worked on the farm and lived with them when he married Mom in 1893.
"When Grandma McCoy lived with Grandma Thomas, my brother and I were allowed to go through Grandma Thomas' house every day to speak with Grandma McCoy, who sat by the window and knit stockings and socks for all of us great grandchildren. When we didn't show up coming by, she worried very much, especially if there was heavy snow.
"She was a very proud and cultured woman, Pennsylvania-Dutch ancestry."
