William “Bill” Hanks, age 73 of Bean Station, passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home.

He was a Vietnam Veteran having served four and a half years in the Marine Corps; a 1962 graduate of Morristown High School; and a graduate of LMU with a Bachelors Degree in Industrial Psychology; a member of Bridges United Methodist Church; and a proud member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #1073. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman. Bill loved his friends and loved to have fun and talk. He was retired from NCR.

Preceded in death by his parents, Red and Katherine Hanks; baby sister, Sandy Hanks; father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Una Robertson; and sister-in-law, Charlotte Robertson.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 42 years Patricia “Pat” Hanks; brother-in-law, Ret. Chief MSGT James R. “Ronnie” Robertson; niece, Tracy Robertson (Eddie) Coffey of Knoxville; cherished great-niece, Jordan “Puddin” Coffey of Knoxville; great-niece, Ashley Coffey of Knoxville; nephew, Mark (Audra Davis) Robertson of Nashville; sister, Teresa (Joe) Conway; nieces, Lorrie Denton and family and Lisa Boatright and family; nephew, Jason Conway and family; and several aunts, cousins, and a host of friends.

Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, July 25, 2016 at Alder-Mayes Funeral Home and the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. Allen Brooks officiating. Military graveside services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016 in Hamblen Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to V.V.A Chapter #1073 P.O. Box 3326 Morristown, TN 37815 in honor of Bill.
