Husband of ***Eleanor (Ellen) Evanson (sp? Everson), married ~1835.

Issue: Margaret ~1836; Dolly ~1840; Mary Ann (Mrs. John Ogden / Mrs Geo. Emerson) ~1843; Richard (m. Jennie Bradley) ~1845; Charles (m. Mary Tweedy & Fannie McFarlane) ~1847; Eleanor ~1850

*Adopted son - Franklin (Frank) Beatty ~1869 was an adopted son. He first appears in the Brandon household on the 1871 census aged 2 yrs. using the name "Franklin Beatty" (not Brandon). The 1881 census again shows Franklin, now aged 12, and now going by the last name "Brandon". Prior to moving to Wellington County, Charles & Eleanor lived at Chinguacousy Twp., Peel County and had a large Beatty family as neighbours (perhaps even related). They were Robert & Mary Beatty + 13 kids. Franklin possibly belongs to one of their daughters.

**Another adopted son also appears on the 1881 census: Frederick Brandon (m. Mary A. Close) ~1873.

***Eleanor Evanson (or Everson) was born at Upper Canada between 1815-1827, depending on the census. It's unclear what became of her after 1881. The 1851 shows Charles & Eleanor living beside Urias Evanson 24 and Richard Evanson 45, possibly her brothers or cousins?

A Brandon family member recently (Aug. 2017) sent along this information:

"Charles Brandon was my great-great-grandfather. I had a different thought on Franklin Beatty & Frederick Dufferin. I think they may be children of Mary Anna Brandon, who eventually lived with John Campbell Ogden (~45 years older than Mary). They are living with her in the 1891 & 1901 census. Franklin was a sailor on the Great Lakes, had a daughter, Alva, who lived with her grandmother, Mary Anna. Sadie, who I believe is the daughter of Mary Anna & John Ogden, says on the late registration of Alva's birth: 'I am the adopted sister of the aforesaid and I am ten years older than the aforesaid and have a distinct recollection of the birth as I was in the house at the time of the birth of the aforesaid.' Weird relationship. Frederick, after a short marriage to Mary Adeline Close, moved to Bad Axe, Michigan, where he married Ethel Ann Wylie ~1913. He is buried there." [Carl Scase]
