Alice Lover Dee Lemoine Neal, a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at the age of 89.

She only spoke French as a child and was very proud of her French heritage. She enjoyed cooking and serving her family the traditional Cajun dishes. She eventually became fluent in Spanish while living in Columbia, S. America. Her family was her pride and joy and she had a loving and guiding heart. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Ladies Auxillary of the Knights of Columbus Council 2807. She volunteered in many capacities at St. Patrick Catholic Church. An endowment was created and called the Alice and Ernest Neal Endowed Professorship in Geology at LSU. She worked at Sears for many years, loving every moment of it.

Alice is survived by her children, Peggy Sharkey and her husband, Bill, Ron Neal and his wife, Mary, Grace Frantz and her husband, Dean; grandchildren, Kiki, Kimmy, and Kelly Sharkey, Meagan Mosher and her husband, James, Katie Register and her husband, Jay, Gabrielle and Jordan Frantz; great-grandchildren, Kade Sharkey, Kaelyn Bourgeois, Kelsey Albert, Jordan Sharkey, and Charlotte Register; brother, Patrick Lemoine; sisters, Doris King and Aline Carnevale; and her devoted cousin, Myrna Edwards.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ernest Eugene Neal; her parents, Rushin and Eunice Lemoine; and brother, Jules Lemoine.

Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Sunday, July 31, 2016 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment will follow on the grounds of Greenoaks Memorial Park.
