Agnes Wilkerson, 89, of Strabane Woods, South Strabane Township, formerly of Claysville, died unexpectedly Wednesday, November 19, 2008, in her home.

She was born February 3, 1919, in San Angelo, Texas, a daughter of Isaac McClure and Willie Mae Simmons Fox.

Mrs. Wilkerson was a member of First Baptist Church, Claysville.

She was a graduate of San Angelo High School.

On November 6, 1936, in San Angelo, she married O.W. Wilkerson, who died March 21, 2005.

Along with her husband, Mrs. Wilkerson moved to Claysville in 1948.

They established Wilkie Contracting on April 9, 1956, and co-owned and operated the business, which is still family run today.

She also was a housewife and enjoyed cooking and her family.

She was a former member of Evening Star Chapter 187 of Order of Eastern Star and Claysville Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

Surviving are two sons, both of Claysville; a daughter, of Claysville; nine grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.

Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are five sisters, Thelma Mathison, Lorene Kade, Lola Mae Weatherford, Chrystal Joyce and Remell Boyd.

At the request of the deceased, all services and interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Claysville Volunteer Fire Department.
