Funeral services for Thomas Brown, 71, whose death occurred at 8 a. m. Sunday, April 14, at his home in Aledo, were held yesterday afternoon at 2:30 from the Murphy funeral parlors. Rev. Loyal M. Thompson, pastor of the Aledo Methodist Episcopal church officiated. Interment was made in Norwood cemetery.

Mr. Brown had been a resident of Mercer county practically all of his life. He was born in Suez township, Oct. 5, 1857, the son of Lavina and John Brown, pioneer residents of the county. His boyhood was spent on the family farm and he attended the country schools.

He was married to Miss Lillian Trovillo, a native of Pennsylvania, 49 years ago. Shortly after their marriage the young couple moved to Iowa, where they lived for several years. With the exception of a few years in Iowa and three years in Minnesota, Mr. Brown has spent his life in Mercer county, where he was for many years a prominent farmer.

In addition to Mrs. Brown, six of their eight children are left to mourn their loss. The children are: Miss Bertha Brown, at home; Fred and Bea of Aledo; Roy, Jerry and Herman of Alexis. Two children died in infancy.

Four brothers and sisters survive, Mrs. Edith Morford and Mrs. Orissa Walters, of Aledo; Ezra Brown of Sanborn, Ia., and John Brown of Shale City. There are nine grandchildren.

Mr. Brown's death was attributed to heart disease from which he had suffered for more than a year.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon for Thomas Brown, aged 70 years old, from the Murphy funeral chapel in Aledo.

Mr. Brown died Sunday morning at 9:00 o'clock. Death was caused by heart disease from which he had suffered several months.

Mr. Brown had been a resident of this county nearly his entire life. He was born in Suez township October 5, 1857, the son of Lavine and John Brown. Nearly 50 years ago he was married to Lillian Trovilla. The couple lived in Iowa a few years and then in Minnesota. They the moved to Mercer county, which since was the family home. Mrs. Brown and six children survive him: Miss Bertha Brown, Aledo; Fred and Bea of Sunbeam; Roy, Jerry and Herman of near Seaton. Two children preceded him in death.
