Meneau, Donald R.

Donald R. Meneau, age 90, a Two Rivers resident, died on Thursday morning, August 4, 2016 at Harbor View Assisted Living, Manitowoc.

Donald was born on January 18, 1926 in Two Rivers, son of the late Arnold and Irene Rohde-Meneau.

Donald was a graduate of Two Rivers Washington High School with the class of 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Born as a glider paratrooper in active duty from 1944 until 1946 and in the reserves from 1946 until 1948.

On December 26, 1945 he married the former Judy Larson at the St. Marks Catholic Church Parish House in Two Rivers.

Donald started his working career as an aluminum welder at Mirro, then worked for the City of Two Rivers for 37 years where he was the Electric Distribution Superintendent for the last 27 years before his retirement on January 18, 1988.

Donald flew model airplanes and was also a model airplane instructor in the Two Rivers area.

He was a state archery champion and ran an archery program through the Two Rivers Rec Department for 12 years. Donald was an avid hunter and fisherman and held a state record for muskie in 1957. He also enjoyed baseball, ice boating, bowling and golfing were we had two holes in one, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife: Judy Meneau, Two Rivers; one son and daughter-in-law Michael and Lisa Meneau, Lake Ann, MI; three granddaughter: Heather Meneau, Phoenix, AZ, Lindsey Meneau, Grand Rapids, MI, Hatte Meneau, Chicago, IL; two brothers: Clarence (Marlene) Meneau, Manitowoc, Richard (Peg) Meneau, Lake Hilbert, WI; and one sister: Arlene Kempton, Suring, WI. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.

He was preceded in death by one brother, LeRoy Meneau; one brother-in-law, Robert Kempton; and his close camping friends Bob and Elaine Schroeder.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Maurice Mmegbuadimma with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, Town of Kossuth. Military Rites will be accorded by the Two Rivers V.F.W and American Legion.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Church, Two Rivers, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 10:30 a.m.
