Joseph Anselm Halbleib (1854 - 1927)
Joseph Halbleib was born May 19, 1854, in Unterendthal, Germany and at the age of nineteen came to the United States settling at Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He lived there six years, coming to Kansas in 1879 settling on a homestead where he remained his entire life. Mr Halbleib died at St. Anthony's hospital in Hays, April 25, 1927. In 1885 he was married to Miss Mary Mahlberg who died February, 1886. On September 8, 1893, he married Victoria (Heskitt) Zeller and to this union eight children were born. Catherine Dickman, Mary Moos, Cecilia Oster, Margaret Rourke, Anna Kreutzer, George and Victoria. Fred died June 17, 1916.
Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church McCracken with burial in St. Mary's cemetery.
