LOUISE RUTH BURKETT, age 90, of Kendallville, died on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Mrs. Burkett was born in Kendallville, Indiana on November 14, 1925 to the late George W. Emrick and Mary E. (Glasgow) Emrick.

She graduated from Salem Center High School in 1944.

Louise volunteered with the Kendallville Nutrition Site for 21 years. She loved to play cards, write poems, and spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoyed listening to music, especially ukulele music, and she loved ice cream.

Survivors include: Son, Jerry Whobrey of New Haven. Daughter, Suzann Doran of Fort Wayne. Five grandchildren: Tina Flory of Garrett; Angela Murphy of Garrett; Jaclyn Ward of Fort Wayne; Anna Ward of Fort Wayne and Camen Doran of Fort Wayne. 12 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters; Berniece Mirksy, Georgia Peterman, and Emogene Sowle and her brothers; Franklin Emrick and Ralph Emrick.

Private burial will be Monday, August 8, 2016 at Sweet Cemetery near Albion.

Arrangements entrusted to Hite Funeral Home of Kendallville.
